Mental Health Practitioner I/II 840005

An 8 bed residential mental health crisis program is seeking qualified candidates for a part-time Mental Health Practitioner I or II position. Riverwind Crisis Residence incorporates a person-centered, harm-reduction approach, serving adults experiencing increased and unmanageable symptoms of mental illness. Many residents are also experiencing co-occurring chemical health concerns. Each Resident sets his/her goals in order to work towards reducing acute symptoms and life stressors, and to build a working crisis plan. Residents utilize the program anywhere between 1 and 10 days.

We have two shifts available:

  • Every Saturday and Sunday, 4p-12:30am
  • Every Saturday and Sunday, 12am-8:30am

The Mental Health Practitioner I/II will provide direct treatment, crisis and primary case management services for approximately 3-6 clients and will monitor client progress throughout the length of stay. Responsibilities will include:

  • Initial and ongoing assessment
  • Identification of needs, individualized treatment planning, and discharge planning
  • Development of realistic goals for individual treatment plans with clients, members of the inter-disciplinary team, and other community caregivers involved in clients' cases
  • Ongoing supporting counseling
  • Participation in the teaching of independent living and social skills
  • Facilitation of Illness Management and Recovery, Integrated Dual Disorder, and skills teaching groups
  • Assurance of continuity of care
  • Coordination with outside agencies to provide a consistent approach to meeting clientsí programming needs
  • Chemical health and relapse prevention services
All staff members attend bi-weekly supervision meetings, weekly clinical review meetings, monthly staff meetings, and regular trainings.


Required qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 6,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with serious and persistent mental illness
  • Bachelorís degree in behavioral science field

Preferred qualifications:

  • Masterís degree in behavioral science field
  • Bachelorís degree in behavioral science field
  • 4,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with serious and persistent mental illness

  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills
  • Basic understanding of harm-reduction, motivational interviewing, and client-centered care
  • Previous experience working in a residential and/or crisis setting
  • Demonstrated success working in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment
