Housing Support Specialist 300001

Housing with Services in Ramsey County is seeking a full-time Housing Support Specialist (300001). This is a licensed Customized Living program, offering persons with serious and persistent mental illness the opportunity to live semi-independently within three registered housing with services sites: Ruth House, Edgebrook House, and Londin Place. Edgebrook House and Londin Place (for women 18+), and Ruth House (for men 18+) serve those in Ramsey County who have a diagnosis of serious and persistent mental illness and qualify for CADI. Clients who have basic independent living skills or are willing to work with staff to learn these skills are accepted.

There are two potential shifts for this position:

  • Tuesday – Saturday, 8 hour shifts between 8am-8pm
  • Thursday – Sunday, 8 hour shifts between 8am-8pm


At all times the Housing Support Specialist follows each client’s Goal, Emergency, and Risk Management Plans. Using the Plans as guides the HSS will:

  • Provide crisis prevention/intervention services to clients
  • Work to create a positive living environment for clients
  • Provide support and supervision of clients living within the program
  • Listen actively and assist clients with problem solving and daily concerns
  • Participate in independent living skills supervision and education and recreation activities
  • Log observable behaviors and document progress
  • Participate in staff meetings and all required in-service trainings
  • Participate in basic house maintenance including maintenance, cleaning and record keeping


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • High school Diploma or equivalent

AND EITHER one of the following:

Associate’s Degree in behavioral science or human services

Registered Nurse

In the final semester before obtaining a bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science field

Within the previous ten years has:
  • Two years of personal life experience with serious and persistent mental illness
  • Two years life experience as primary care giver to an adult with a serious mental illness or traumatic brain injury
  • 2000 hours of supervised paid work experience in the delivery of mental health services to adults with a serious mental illness or traumatic brain injury

OR the following

  • Fluent in the non-English language or competent in the culture of the ethnic group to which at least 50 percent of the clients belong
