Housing Specialist - TEMPORARY (HST891)

Description:FT (Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; JUNE 20 - SEPTEMBER 30) Housing Specialist position available at a Metro area homeless services program.
Duties:This position will provide case management services to program clients. Assist client in obtaining housing and act as liaison between client/landlord relationship and services providers. Conduct client assessments to determine barriers, resource needs and other factors related to are planning. Make referrals to and assist client with obtaining/accessing community resources i.e., support groups, financial resources, employment, etc. Support residents with budgeting and developing a care plan to maintain and improve their housing situation. Offer regular and quality contact with clients to maintain trust, assist in crisis prevention, and to assist in meeting individual needs. Provide sufficient support to assist clients in achieving their goals. Provide necessary transportation for clients according to availability. Keep updated records of all interactions with clients and any other contacts made on their behalf. Provide on-going monitoring and reporting of residents� progress. Supporting clients with benefits paperwork.
Qualifications:To qualify for this position applicant must have a Bachelor�s degree in related field or two years experience working with homeless individuals or two years experience in housing. Experience in Housing First or scattered site housing programs preferred. Experience in working with clients who have been homeless and have significant mental health barriers. Experience in completing intake and assessments of client needs. Experience in creating goal/treatment plans. Valid driver�s license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to drive participants. Knowledge of systems navigation within Hennepin and/or Ramsey County. Strong financial management skills. Knowledge of Housing First or Harm Reduction intervention strategies. Ability to work effectively with and relate to diverse populations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially for client advocacy. Computer application proficiency, including Microsoft Outlooks, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preference given to Bi-lingual or Multi-lingual individuals.
