| Description: | FT (3-4 days/week 9:00 am - 5:30 pm; 1-2 days/week 1:00 pm - 9:30 pm) Mental Health Practitioner I position available at a deaf mental health service program in Minneapolis. |
| Duties: | The Mental Health Practitioner I (MHP I), provides direct services to recipients who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deaf/blind. In conjunction with other staff has the primary responsibility to develop and provide independent skills development training in: socialization, problem solving, values clarification, goal setting, self awareness/awareness of others, behavior management, mental health management, medication awareness and management, sexuality, communication, leisure and recreational skills, nutrition and meal planning, physical health, stress management and relaxation, language, safety skills, transportation, community resources, pre-vocational and work management skills and math/budgeting. The staff in this position provides Independent Living Skills (ILS), and Outreach services to members of the community. |
| Qualifications: | To qualify for this position candidate MUST be Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL).
Bachelors degree in a behavioral science related field (i.e. social work, psychology, counseling, divinity counseling, marriage and family therapy). OR
If employee does not have a degree from a behavioral health related field, they must be able to demonstrate completion of 6000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with mental illness. Candidate must have an understanding and awareness of Deaf culture.
Additional work or volunteer experience with persons who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Deaf/Blind, mentally ill, and/or developmentally delayed is highly desirable.
